Wexford’s Ryan Delaney Has A New Club In England

Ryan Delaney is going on loan to a new English club…

The 25-year-old, who has played 15 times in all competitions for League One side Morecambe FC, will join up with Scunthorpe United for a loan until the end of the season.

Delaney will be available for Scunthorpe United ahead of their fixture with Oldham Athletic at the weekend.

Speaking on the loan move, Morecambe FC manager Stephen Robinson said:

“This loan move gives Ryan a good chance at getting some games under his belt from now until the end of the season.

“Ryan is a lovely lad and has been a pleasure to have in the dressing room, we are going to keep a close eye on him while he is away, and we will reassess everything in the summer.

“At that point, he will have another season left on his contract, I wish Ryan the best of luck with his move and I am sure the Scunthorpe United fans will recognise that he is a hard-working defender who gives his all week-in-week-out,” Robinson said.

Speaking on the loan deal, Wexford native Delaney stated that he’s excited to start:

“Obviously I’m looking forward to playing games for Scunthorpe. I’ve worked with him twice before and we get on really well, so I felt like it was a no brainer really. I know what to expect from him, and he knows what to expect from me. I feel like it’s a good relationship.

“First and foremost, you’ve got to work hard, and you’ve got to dedicate yourself to it. That’s what I’ll hopefully do in a Scunthorpe shirt. It’s a chance to impress and sometimes these things take longer than expected. It’s been a few days in the making.”
