Wexford’s Rory O’Connor Named GAA.ie Hurler Of The Week

Wexford’s Rory O’Connor has been named the GAA.ie hurler of the week…

The Wexford man is in the form of his life, hitting 1-12 against Cork on Sunday in the final round of the Allianz Hurling League. Wexford will now face Waterford in the semi-final of the competition, while Kilkenny will play Cork in the other semi-final.

Following his powerful display in attack, O’Connor was in contention to be crowned the player of the week, fighting for it against Kilkenny’s Padraig Walsh and Dublin’s Fergal Whitely.

After the public vote, it has now emerged that the Wexford man has won. The public has voted Wexford’s Rory O’Connor the GAA.ie Hurler of the Week. The classy attacker received 3,468 votes on the GAA’s Instagram page which put him ahead of Kilkenny’s Padraig Walsh (2,282), and Dublin’s Fergal Whitely (2,001).

O’Connor will be delighted with the recognition, but his attention will now turn to the Allianz League semi-final against Waterford which takes place next weekend.

Wexford fans will be hoping that O’Connor’s form continues into that game.
