Listen: Wexford Man Living in Scotland Releases Song that is a ‘Love Letter’ to Wexford

Chris Berry has penned a song guaranteed to evoke nostalgia in anyone who has ever called Wexford their home…

You might remember us covering a song about Wexford people missing home back in January. The song, penned by the talented Chris Berry, has been newly released across all major music platforms.

Chris Berry has been living in Edinburgh for six years but his fond memories of Wexford have never wavered, as captured in his new song ‘No Place Like Home’.

The song evokes strong feelings of nostalgia, name-checking some of Wexford Town’s most iconic locations, from ‘drinking at the rocks’ to the ‘back of The Star’.

Wexford’s Chris Berry

When asked what inspired the song, Chris responded:

“I’ve been living in Edinburgh for the past six years and I get homesick now and again. It’s like a love letter to Wexford. Just something anyone living abroad can relate to. A little something about Wexford for everybody.”

“I got inspiration from things like, do you remember ‘Dancing at the Crossroads’ and ‘The Purple and Gold’ back in the nineties? There’s no really big Wexford songs that have come out since then, so I wanted to give it a go.”

‘No Place Like Home’ is also due to get its own music video filmed in Wexford. Chris says that he plans to bring much of the song’s fishing imagery to life in the video, inspired by his father Eddie’s work as a fisherman.

The song, recorded in Chris’ father’s and brother Andrew’s studio in Whiterock, features such beautifully crafted lyrics as ‘These beautiful streets ain’t paved with gold but there’s pride and there’s passion in the stories told’ and ‘Not a stranger in sight walking on the quay where the Slaney river meets the Irish Sea’.

Whether you’re a Wexford local or expat, Chris’ lyrics are guaranteed to resonate with anyone who’s ever called Wexford home.

Chris’ Wexford anthem is available on all major music platforms including Spotify and YouTube. Whether you’re a Wexford local or lived there once long ago, ‘No Place Like Home’ is a must-listen for anyone with ties to The Model County.

After all, there is no place like home.
