Wexford Manager John Hegarty Identifies One Exciting Young Wexford Talent Coming Through

There will be a new lease of life with the Wexford Senior Footballers this year after John Hegarty was named their new manager…

As part of the Cairde Loch Garman initiative, new Wexford Senior Football manager, John Hegarty, was asked a number of questions.

Interestingly, he was asked if there are any young talents coming through.

“There is huge potential currently in Wexford football with a really good crop of young players ready to emerge. Cian Hughes from Kilanerin is certainly one of these exciting talents and one to watch in the coming years. Earlier this year, he was instrumental in Gorey Community School’s All-Ireland success before going on to make his intercounty debut from the bench against Offaly in the Tailteann Cup. He is a dynamic and exciting forward who has the ability and potential to have a long and successful intercounty career with Wexford,” Hegarty said.

Given that Hegarty is from Kilanerin, he would also be quite familiar with the emerging talent too. Cian is a younger brother of Paraic Hughes who plays on the Wexford Football team too.

When Hegarty was confirmed as Wexford manager, we also caught up with him for an interview which can be read here.

Membership for Cairde Loch Garman for 2023 is currently open now to all members of the public interested in signing up. The initiative helps Wexford GAA to attain their vision of transformational change within the county. To sign up, check out Wexford GAA Cairde Loch Garman.
