The Wexford Senior Hurling side has been named to take on Offaly in the Walsh Cup…
Darragh Egan has named an experiemental side to take on Offaly in the Walsh Cup this weekend. The game, which is scheduled to take place in St Brendan’s Park in Birr on Sunday at 2pm, will also be available to watch live on Clubber’s streaming service.
Interestingly, Conor Hearne has been named in the wing-forward position, despite playing mostly in midfield. Likewise, Eoin Murphy from Ferns has been given a chance at centre-back, while his club counterpart, Niall Murphy, is named at corner back.
After performing well in the wing-forward position last week against Laois, Richie Lawlor has been named in midfield. Similarly, after a solid performance against Laois, Ross Banville retains his position on the starting fifteen, and has been thrown in at centre-forward this time.
Mark Fanning returns in the goal, replacing James Lawlor from last week, who kept a clean sheet and performed well between the posts.
On the bench, Conor McDonald returns to the panel after welcoming a newly-born girl into the world just recently. Diarmuid O’Keeffe is another welcomed addition to the subs. Chin is also named on the subs. Should they need the experience, they can call on them.

Wexford will be hoping to redeem themselves and bounce back with a win against Offaly, though with such an experimental side, it could be a struggle after Offaly’s performance against Kilkenny last weekend.
For Egan, perhaps the most important thing isn’t the result though. Perhaps the most important thing with the Walsh Cup is that new players are brought into the panel, and given a chance to put their hands up and perform for Wexford.
