It’s safe to say that Jackie Tyrrell was left unimpressed by Wexford’s performance against Clare on Sunday…
Speaking on Allianz League Sunday, former Kilkenny hurler Jackie Tyrrell was bemused by Wexford’s performance.
Wexford lost out to Clare on a score-line of 6-25 to 1-18, losing 4-15 to 1-07 at half-time.
“It’s very hard to put your finger on it. Under Darragh Egan, Wexford have been very hard to beat and consistent. But this was without doubt the worst performance under Darragh Egan. It was probably shambolic at times, particularly at the back. Four different incidents I seen, Wexford had the ball, were coming out of defence, coughed it up.”
“You can make a pass to say that Matt O’Hanlon wasn’t there, Lee Chin, Liam Ryan, Mark Fanning, Rory O’Connor, the spine of their team.”
“You can’t stand over not making an effort, lack of intensity, passive, going through the motions. It’s an attitude thing. Clare were at their ease, Wexford had no idea,” he said.

Likewise, Joe Canning who joined the Allianz League Sunday panel this year, echoed similar sentiments, stating that their loss is a worrying one.
“It’s a little bit worrying, I know it’s the League and early days, but if you were Darragh Egan, you’d be doing fair head-scratching,” he said.
