Wexford football manager hails long-serving ‘ultimate professional’ Ben Brosnan

John Hegarty’s Wexford Senior footballers take on Offaly today..

One Wexford player still leading the charges is 35-year-old, Ben Brosnan. The Castletown club man will make his 165th senior inter-county appearance for the Model County today.

Ahead of the clash against Offaly in the Tailteann Cup, the Wexford Senior Football manager, John Hegarty, hailed Brosnan for his longevity:

Speaking to The Irish Sun, Hegarty stated:

“If Ben had been listening to the naysayers, he’d have hung his boots up a long time ago. He has been a phenomenal servant to Wexford GAA.”

“And when you say something like that, it sounds like he’s winding down. Yet he still contributes every day.”

“Stuff like his presence in the dressing room and in training, they’re only the add-ons. What we’re still looking for Ben to do is make a contribution on the pitch — and he’s doing that.”

“On top of that, Ben’s wife had their third child ten days ago but he hasn’t missed any sessions. He’s the ultimate professional. The longevity of his career is a testament to that.”
