Wexford’s weather warning upgraded to Status Orange

On Thursday, Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow weather warning

Originally, Wexford, along with all other counties in Leinster and Munster, were to be impacted by the Status Yellow weather warning.

The Irish weather forecaster has predicted that there will be heavy rain with thundery downpours on Friday.

The forecaster, Met Eireann, stated on Wednesday evening that there will be some “spot flooding” and “difficult travelling conditions” in the county.

On Friday morning, Met Eireann upgraded Wexford’s weather warning to Status Orange. The Status Orange weather warning is also in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford.

The incoming storm, Storm Betty, will also bring south to southwest gales with severe gusts of up to 130 km/hr. This could have potential impacts such as structural damage, falling trees, traffic disruption, power outages, and localised flooding, as per the Met Eireann report.

Motorists, in particular, are urged to drive with caution as road conditions may become quite hazardous in places.

As per the information provided by the Irish national weather forecaster, the warning is currently in place and is valid until Friday 18/08/2023 at 11 pm.
