It’s safe to say that Kilkenny legend, Tommy Walsh, was full of praise for Wexford’s Lee Chin recently…
On a recent podcast on Off The Ball, Tommy Walsh hailed Wexford’s Lee Chin “as one of the best Wexford hurlers of all time.”
“He’s scored 2-11 versus Antrim, and he got man of the match in one of the most amazing wins of all time for Antrim. That’s how good he was. And in fairness, he deserved… Anyone that scores 2-11 deserves to be man of the match. So 11 pints versus Galway, scored 13 points versus Carlow, and 1:12 versus Dublin. Just an unbelievable ball winner. Great man in the air, great man on the ground, win the rucks. A ball winner isn’t just a man that catches the ball out of the sky. This guy, he can win it anyway. He has to make the movement, go in front of his man to win a ball. If it’s in a ruck, he can win it just. Bring him out to midfield, he’ll win balls and score long range points. He’s not a natural free taker, but he has stepped up to the plate for the last probably 10 years. Time after time, he steps up and takes such important frees….,” Tommy Walsh said, speaking on Off The Ball.
“And an amazing, amazing year. He’s like a fine wine, really, this man. There’s a few of them like that, Patrick Horgan, and they’re getting better with age, it seems to be. And I would even say, I think about today and yesterday, he’s probably one of the best Wexford hurlers of all time. And that’s a fair mark of respect for a man,” he said.
Wexford will be hoping that Lee Chin will be able to continue his fine run of form in their next clash where they’ll take on Kilkenny this Sunday in Nowlan Park.
