Wexford GAA trying to get date changed for All-Ireland quarter-final against Clare

The Wexford Senior hurlers defeated Laois today in O’Moore Park…

It was a preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final, a game which saw Wexford win on a score-line of 0-32 to 0-20.

It means that Wexford will now march on to take on Clare in Semple Stadium.

The quarter-finals have been fixed to take place in Semple Stadium, a double-header of Wexford and Clare, and Dublin vs Cork.

After today’s victory, Wexford GAA have confirmed that they are trying to change the date of that match.

It has been fixed for Saturday 22nd June, but Wexford GAA are hoping to change it to the Sunday 23rd June. This is to account for the fact that Wexford will host the Feile this Saturday in Wexford, impacting many Wexford GAA volunteers, fans, and hosts across the country.

Speaking after the match, Wexford GAA stated:

“It’s all over, and we go through to play Clare in the quarter-final. That match is currently scheduled for next Saturday, but we’ll be making every effort possible to have it changed to Sunday, on account of how so many Wexford people will be involved in all sorts of ways as we host Féile na nGael on Saturday,” Wexford GAA said.
