It’s not often that Olympians walk the streets of Wexford…
But that is the case for Sophie Becker.
In honour of her achievements, which seen the Team Ireland women’s relay team finish fourth in the 4x400m relay, there will be a reception held for Sophie Becker in her native county, County Wexford.
The New Ross woman’s stardom has continued to rise in recent years. While Becker and her team did not come back with a medal, she represented the County and the Country with distinction at the highest level of athletics at the Paris Olympics.
Wexford County Council confirmed on Friday that a reception will be held in her hometown of New Ross, County Wexford, to honour her achievements as an Olympian on the world stage. It will take place on Wednesday, 28th August at 5.30pm in Pearse Park, New Ross and all are encouraged to attend the event to show their appreciation:
