We’re coming into the business end of the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship…
With all group games finishing up and the preliminary quarter-finals concluding over the weekend, attention now turns to the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship quarter-finals.
The pick of the clashes is St Martins against Ferns. Despite that, all remaining eight teams will fancy their chances of progressing to the semi-final stages, given how tight the Wexford Senior Hurling Club Championship is known to be over the last number of years.
Quarter-final pairings Wexford SHC:
St Annes vs Rapparees
Shelmaliers vs Crossabeg/Ballymurn
Naomh Eanna vs Faythe Harriers
St Martins vs Ferns
All quarter-finals are pencilled in to take place from Friday 4th October to Sunday 6th October.
Meanwhile, Cloughbawn and Oulart-The Ballagh will battle it out in the relegation final. The loser of that clash will be relegated to the Intermediate Championship in Wexford. The relegation final will be played on the same weekend as the quarter-final pairings.
Both Cloughbawn and Oulart may feel hard done by, being victims of the newly incorporated Wexford Senior Hurling Championship model. Even though the Rapparees and Crossabeg did not win any of their group games, they have still progressed to the quarter-final stages after winning their preliminary quarter-finals.
