The two Wexford Senior hurling semi-finals took place yesterday…
One of the biggest talking points from both of the clashes was the horrible windy conditions at Wexford Park.
The wind was so bad – that in fact – the Naomh Eanna goalkeeper, Darragh Hughes, was able to retrieve his own puck-out, which occurred in the opening ten minutes of the first-half. Hughes was a replacement goalkeeper for Jack Cushe, who was injured in the warm-up of the Wexford SHC semi-final between St Martins and Naomh Eanna.

St Martins would emerge victorious on the day, making most of the windy first-half conditions to find themselves 0-16 to 0-02 up at half-time. Meanwhile, in the other semi-final in the game previous, St Annes survived the second-half conditions too, defeating the Shelmaliers by two points, despite only managing to score two points of their own in the second-half of the Wexford SHC semi-final.
The betting odds have since been updated for the Wexford SHC final, with St Martins being viewed as the bookie’s favourites for the clash.
The wind from Storm Ashley caused havoc not only in the Wexford SHC, but in Wexford rugby circles on Sunday afternoon too.
