A Wexford man has raised over €30,000 for charity…
On Sunday 7th of September, Lyndon Jones – who is originally from Gorey in County Wexford – began a 270km walk from his home in Westport to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin.
He was joined by his brother-in-law, Cathal for the full journey, while his partner Michelle and other family and friends also joined along the way. The journey was completed on Monday morning, 8th of September, when they successfully reached Temple Street Hospital.
This journey was a deeply personal one; it was in memory of their beautiful baby boy, Lachlan, who sadly passed away at just 12 weeks old.
Lachlan spent his short and meaningful life in the incredible care of the teams at the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and the High Dependency Unit in St Michael’s B Ward at Temple Street Children’s Hospital. The love, compassion, and support they showed him was something the family will never forget.
Speaking to Lyndon’s brother, Byron, he said that the aim was to simply give back:
“Following the death of Lyndon’s son Lachlan in February, Lyndon quickly formed a plan to give back. He wanted to give back to the accommodation Hugh’s House in which they stayed; it is linked to the hospitals on the Northside and he is also doing it in Aid of the Children’s Health Foundation,” he told Wexford Weekl.y
At the time of writing, a total of €33,075 has been raised for the chosen charities. Donations via the iDonate platform will remain open until 22nd Sept 2025.
