Wexford’s Leinster Championship fixtures have been released for the upcoming 2026 season…
Wexford last won the Leinster Senior hurling title in 2019, but the Model County will be hoping for a good campaign in 2026 following a disappointing 2025.
One of the highlights and most notable changes to the Leinster Senior hurling calendarfor 2026 is Wexford’s second-round clash. In previous years, Wexford had played Kilkenny in the final round of the championship, however, in some years, the game often didn’t account for anything or had little bearing. Last year for example, Kilkenny were already through to the Leinster final – and Wexford had nothing to play for other than pride.
However, for 2026, Wexford will take on Kilkenny in Round 2 – something that Wexford GAA fans and GAA fans as a whole have been crying out for. It adds a lot more weight and importance to the already big fixture in Nowlan Park.
Although the Kilkenny game is one that has caught the eye of many Wexford hurling fans, Wexford fans will know all-too-well not to look past the opening round where they will take on Kildare in St Conleth’s Park. In previous years, Wexford’s inconsistency has let them down and this is a fixture that has the potential to be a potential banana skin for the Yellowbellies. A loss against Kildare in the opening round could ultimately ruin their whole championship.
In Round 3, Wexford will take on Dublin at Wexford Park. Wexford’s games against Dublin have been entertaining in previous years, but the Dubs have been coming out better off. Last year, Dublin defeated Wexford in Parnell Park and the previous year, Wexford slipped up a five point lead against the Dubs conceding two late goals in Wexford Park.
In Round 4, Wexford will take on Offaly. There are no easy games in the Leinster Hurling Championship, and an away clash against Offaly, will never be. Offaly, although still quite young, are an up-and-coming team who wont fear Wexford on their home patch. It’s a game that both Wexford and Offaly would have pinpointed as a must-win when the fixtures were released on Monday morning.
The last round doesn’t get any easier for Wexford. It’s a final round fixture against Galway. The good news is that it will take place in Wexford Park. It could be the making or breaking of Wexford’s hopes in the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship.
The Leinster Final will take place on June 6th 2026.
