Two hurlers opt out of Wexford Senior hurling panel for 2026

The new inter-county season is just around the corner…

Wexford Senior hurling manager, Keith Rossiter, has been dealt a headache ahead of the new season.

Eoin Ryan from St Annes has opted out of the panel for the 2026 sesaon to go travelling. Ryn was a versatile defender for the Model County, playing in full-back when Liam Ryan was unavailable for a number of games, then corner back, and even wing-back. The tall sticky man-marker will be a huge loss for Rossiter and the Wexford Senior hurling team as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 season.

Meanwhile, Naomh Eanna’s Charlie McGuckin has also opted out of the panel due to travel plans. Like Ryan, McGuckin was also a veratile player for Rossiter. He played mostly in wing-forward, and the n dropped out to the midfeild area, while he also had spells playing in the wing-back position for both club and county. His presence in the air and his workrate will be difficult to replicate on the Wexford team.

According to a report from Michael Venery in the Irish Independent, there are also question marks over the futures of Conor McDonald, Liam Ryan, and Cathal Dunbar as the season draws closer.
