There’s a lot to be excited about if you’re a follower of Wexford boxing…
On Wednesday, two Wexford boxers came home from the European Boxing Championships with medals. Sean Kelly of Kilmyshall won Gold at the u-17 boxing championships, while Wexford and Team Ireland’s Kalib Walshe of Wexford CBS brought back a silver medal.
In the professional ranks, there are three Wexford boxers staking their claim in the ring. They include Dean Gonzalez Furlong, Dean Walsh, and David Kennedy.
Kennedy is the latest to have another fight annoucnement and there’s a lot of excitement building ahead of his next fight in the new year.
The Gorey man has been pencilled in to fight on a card in Ballybofey, Donegal.
The card is entitled ‘Fight Night at the Valley’, taking place at the Finn Valley Centre on February 21st 2026.
Kennedy’s opponent has not yet been revealed for the fight, but his opponent will be revealed within the next two-three weeks.
The ‘Bomber’ Kennedy, who typically has a strong Gorey following attend his fights, will be hoping to go 3-0 in his next outing in Donegal.
