Wexford To Be Without Several Players For This Weekend’s New York Hurling Classic

Fitzgerald won’t be travelling to America with a full-strength squad..

St Martins will face Ballyhale Shamrocks this Saturday in Nowlan Park, the same day the Wexford Senior hurlers face Limerick in the New York Hurling Classic.

As this is the case, the St Martins contingent of Jack O’Connor, Rory O’Connor, Joe O’Connor and Conor Firman will miss out on the selection process.

Their attention instead turns to defeating Kilkenny kinpins Ballyhale Shamrocks, who are managed by all-time hurling great, Henry Shefflin.

A win would see the Wexford champions in a Leinster hurling final against either Laois’ Rathdowney Errill or Carlow’s St Mullins.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that St Annes clubman and 2019 All-Star award winner Dee O’Keeffe will not feature in the New York Hurling Classic either.

The teacher is currently travelling while on career break, however, he will meet up with Davy Fitzgerald’s squad after the hurling tournament as they embark on a trip to Orlando, Florida.
