Wexford Hurlers Announced As One Of Four Teams To Compete In New York Hurling Classic

The Wexford hurlers will travel to the Big Apple in November to compete in New York’s hurling classic.

Joining Wexford in November will be Limerick, Tipperary and Kilkenny; the four All-Ireland hurling semi-finalists this year.

Last year, Wexford travelled to the Fenway Hurling Classic in Boston. And although memories were made for many, it was a trip to forget for Oylegate’s Damien Reck as he suffered a fractured jaw in the televised game against Limerick.

Travelling to the Big Apple on a team holiday is a just reward for Wexford’s exploits this summer. This year, Wexford lifted the Bob O’Keeffe Leinster Championship for the first time since 2004, while they narrowly lost out to eventual All-Ireland winners Tipperary in the All-Ireland semi-final.

The games will take place on November 16th, and tickets for the matches go on sale on August 28th.

Whether Davy Fitzgerald will be apart of the panel then remains unkown, but if the results from our recent poll are anything to go by, then Wexford fans will be really hoping to see the Clare native walk the sidelines in the Purple and Gold.
