Positive news stories about Wexford football don’t always gain headlines…

However, one Wexford GAA club is changing the consensus.
Rathgarougue-Cushinstown are through to the Leinser Junior Football final, after they defeated Offaly champions Sannonbridge at O’Kennedy Park, New Ross by 1-8 to 0-7.
Rathgarogue-Cushinstown led 0-04 to 0-02 at half-time. Then tied at 0-06 apiece with less than fifteen minutes to go, Daire Bolger scored a goal for the Wexford club side; in such a low-scoring affair, the goal proved crucial as the Offaly champions just couldn’t claw their way back.
The Wexford club side, who will play in their first-ever Leinster final, will now look forward to a Leinster final clash against Meath champions Clann Na Gael.
The final will be played on Saturday 7th December or Sunday 8th December, with a venue and time yet to be confirmed.
