Wexford Business Temporarily Closes After Staff Member Tests Positive For Covid-19

A business in Wexford has taken action to temporarily shut their doors…

Cois na hAbhann Garden Centre, located in Camolin, have decided to temporarily close their doors after a member of their staff tested positive for Covid-19.

On social media, the business and owners have been applauded for taking tough decisive action in the best interests of their staff and customers.

Cois na hAbhann released a statement via their social media channels this evening confirming the news as they continue to wait for expert advice from the HSE.

“We have been informed this evening that a part time member of our staff has tested positive for Covid 19. The staff member was on the premises early last week for a very short period of time and was NOT in contact with any member of the public. The staff member in question and all staff members were wearing the correct PPE at all times.”

“We are awaiting HSE guidance on this and have not yet been contacted in regards to contact tracing. No other staff members are showing any symptoms of any type. The health of our staff and customers is as always our number one priority during this uncertain situation. For that reason, we have closed both Cois na hAbhann and The Bay Tree Cafe with immediate effect. We will remain closed until all staff have tested negative for the virus. The HSE haven’t directed us to close the premises but we feel that in the absence of any guidance on contract tracing that closing is in the best interest of our staff ,their families , our customers and the wider community.”

“This has been an incredibly tough decision for a small family business like ours but we feel it is the right thing to do. We will reopen and welcome all our customers to return as soon as we can ensure that it is safe to do so. We ask for your continued support when that time comes,” the statement read.

We wish the person in question, who tested positive for Covid-19, a speedy recovery.
