Six Wexford Players Test Positive For Covid-19

Six Wexford players have tested positive for Covid-19…

Wexford Weekly can confirm that two players from Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford Senior hurling squad and four players from Shane Roche’s Wexford Senior football squad have tested positive for Covid-19 after recent rapid testing.

Both panels were tested in Ferns on Monday evening, with the results arriving by early on Tuesday afternoon.

on.

“The two lads will be self-isolating for the time being and they can come back in about 10 days’ time. It was important that everyone was tested because we need to know what we can and can’t do over the next two weeks.

“Croke Park were very helpful in this and I thank them for being able to facilitate the testing. We now have to stay to ourselves and we’ll be doing our best to make sure we don’t have to go through this again. But it’s great to be able to get this done and to be able to play games,” Fitzgerald said to the Irish Examiner.

The news emerges after a number of clubs around the county had positive Covid-19 cases, including the Shamrocks, Castletown, Naomh Eanna, and St Annes.

The Wexford footballers are due to play Limerick in the National Football League this weekend, while Davy Fitzgerald’s Wexford will face Galway in the Leinster hurling semi-final on Halloween night.
