Never before has there been such a demand for a Walsh Cup game…
On 21st January, Wexford will play host to Kilkenny in the third round of the Walsh Cup. It’s not going to be your typical Walsh Cup game though.
Instead, 10,000 people in attendance will be there to witness history.
Wexford Park will be turning on their floodlights that night, and Wexford GAA’s chairman, Micháel Martin, has also promised a spectacle with the lights and a fireworks show.
Wexford GAA announced that capacity is now full, however, they still may opt to open the terraces to allow for increased capacity.
“We wish to announce that due to tremendous interest from our supporters, all tickets for public sale for our opening game under floodlights against Kilkenny are now sold out. Please do not purchase tickets from any unofficial sources for this game.
Please note that due to an operational and stewarding perspective, it was agreed not to open the terraces for this game. This decision was communicated clearly in advance but will be reassessed in early January.”
Before the Wexford and Kilkenny game in the Walsh Cup, there will be an exciting post-primary schools final taking place.
Meanwhile, Wexford’s Walsh Cup fixtures can be viewed here while their Allianz Hurling League fixtures have also been revealed for 2023.
