Works are currently ongoing with the installation of new floodlights at Chadwicks Wexford Park…
There is a buzz around Wexford GAA, with excitement building towards the first night under lights at Wexford Park.
It has been confirmed that Wexford will host Kilkenny under lights in the first game under lights in Wexford Park on Janruary 21st.
Speaking to South East Radio recently, Wexford GAA Chairman Micháel Martin stated that the lights in Wexford Park will be like no other in any county GAA ground.
“It’s a massive engineering task. There’s hours of work in the coordination of it.”
“It’s a moment of time, the lights being turned on. Hopefully we’ll get large numbers. We’ll target children to try get children in to the stadium on that night.”
“The lights have special features that are in no other GAA stadium in Ireland. The lights that we are installing are the ‘Aviva’ in terms of light shows, and music features and show on. We set out specifically to show ambition in Wexford town. Something that we can be proud of an that kids will always want to play in Wexford Park. There will be fireworks,” he said on the South East Radio Sports Hour.
It’s safe to say that we’re looking forward to watching Wexford play under the new lights.
