Wexford Man Named On ‘Team Ireland’ For Strandja International Tournament

A Wexford boxer has been named on the ‘Team Ireland’ squad for an upcoming international tournament…

Wexford man Dean Walsh claimed his fifth national elite title last month.

After his exploits in the National Elites, he has been named on Team Ireland’s squad for the upcoming 74th Strandja International Tournament, taking place in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Walsh is the only Wexford native to be named in the squad. He will be fighting in the 71kg category and the tournament will run over nine days from 18th Feb to the 27th Feb.

Interestingly, the boxer who Walsh defeated in the semi-final stages of the Irish National Elites, Aidan Walsh, has also been named in the squad and will be entered into the competition in the same category.
