There could be another Wexford native called up to the Republic of Ireland Senior ranks soon…
It’s always good to have one of our own on the Irish football team to cheer on. For years, Wexford people had Kevin Doyle starting up front.
Now, another Wexford native seems to be in contention for an Irish call up.
Festy Ebosele, who played his underage football with Moyne Rangers but now plies his trade with Italian Serie A team Udinese, is in contention to be called up to Steven Kenny’s Ireland squad.
The young Wexford man has had a good run of form lately in the Serie A and he has started to make an impact on the Serie A club.
As per The42.ie, it was was Ebosele’s 17th appearance overall since joining the Italian side from Derby last summer.
The 20-year-old from Wexford played 78 minutes in total as his mid-table side relegated their opponents last night, with his performance getting rave reviews by supporters who labelled him as a “real threat” on the wing.
Ebosele’s good run of form could be coming at a perfect time. Steven Kenny could be missing Irish captain Seamus Coleman for their upcoming Qualifier clashes after he sustained an injury which could see him ruled out for six months.
While it may be too soon for Ebosele to start on the Irish team, a call up to the squad does not seem too far away.
