Declan Ruth and David Redmond secure new managerial positions with Wexford hurling clubs

The new GAA season is just around the corner…

With new GAA seasons, typically means new managers and backroom teams as club’s Annual General Meetings take place across the county.

Some of the big news regarding new managerial appointments includes the appointments of both Declan Ruth and David Redmond.

Ruth will taking over Rathnure, who were relegated to the Intermediate Hurling Championship. With the appointment of Ruth, who won a Senior Hurling title with the Rapparees as manager with his club for the first time in 43 years, Rathnure will be hoping that he will help them return to the Senior hurling ranks.

Ruth was tipped to be in contention for the vacant Wexford Senior hurling role following the departure of Darragh Egan, so it’ll be interesting to see how he fares out in the Intermediate Championship.

Meanwhile, St Annes have confirmed the departure of club stalwart and former inter-county hurler, Doc O’Connor.

Oulart-The Ballagh clubman, David Redmond, will replace O’Connor as the new manager of St Annes in the Wexford Senior Hurling Championship. Redmond has been involved with the Wexford u-20 hurling team in recent years, while he finished this year with more managerial success, guiding the Oulart-The Ballagh minor team to their first Wexford minor hurling title for the first time in 18 years.

Meanwhile, in related news, Wexford GAA have ratified their management teams for both the Wexford Minor footballers and the Wexford u-20 footballers for the season ahead.
