Wexford hurling manager Keith Rossiter provides injury updates on panel ahead of Walsh Cup campaign

The Wexford hurlers will be looking forward to the new year ahead. One man looking forward to the challenge is the new manager, Keith Rossiter…

It will be Rossiter’s first year in charge of the Wexford Senior hurlers, having replaced Darragh Egan in his role. Rossiter was speaking to Wexford GAA recently.

He stated that the Wexford Senior hurlers have been training since 23rd November, as per Croke Park guidelines. At the moment, there are 43 members of the ‘Walsh Cup’ panel, with approximately 10 players injured.

On the injury front, he stated:

“Conall Flood is after getting a bit of surgery done. Conor Devitt is going for minor surgery. You’ll have Conor McDonald and Dee O’Keeffe carrying injuries that will bring them back for the latter end of the League stages.”

“Kevin Foley is coming back from a hamstring injury, but he’ll be back for the opening round of the league. Matthew O’Hanlon will not be back until the 25th Jan. They’re all doing their rehab. There’s nobody doing nothing,” Rossiter said.

Speaking on his excitement to manage the team, he stated that:

“It was a great privilege to wear the Wexford jersey for eleven seasons – and now it’s a great honour to manage these great bunch of players. I’m really looking forward to the Walsh Cup,” he said.

The Wexford Senior Hurlers will play the winners of Kilkenny and Carlow, a rescheduled fixture which will take place on Tuesday 9th January. After Kilkenny won tonight, it means Wexford’s first clash in the Walsh Cup will take place against Carlow on Sunday, 14th Jan 2024.
