This is probably not a huge shock for those of us in the know…
But, a Wexford beach has been named the best beach in Ireland for 2024.
Curracloe Beach has been named ‘Ireland’s Best Beach’ in the Reader Travel Awards 2024, compiled by Irish Independent travel writer, Pól Ó Conghaile.
The article reads that Co Wexford strand is “a beautiful, golden, sandy beach as far as the eye can see,” readers said.
“Not commercialised,” one person pointed out, another noted that it’s “just peace and quiet and so clean” while another person stated that the “white sands” are a thing of beauty.
Wexford’s Curracloe topped the list, beating stiff opposition with the likes of Inch Beach in Kerry, Keem Bay in Mayo, Dog’s Bay in Galway, Inchydoney in Co Cork, and Ballybunion in Co Kerry to name just a few.
For many Wexford people, this may not come as too much of a surprise. It has always been one of our gems here in the Model County. People nationwide know about it now though.
With Wexford also being the sunniest county in Ireland and known as the Sunny South East, Currcaloe beach ticks all the boxes.
