Six Wexford natives through to Freshers A All-Ireland Hurling final with university team

Six Wexford hurlers will be looking forward to an upcoming All-Ireland final…

Six Wexford players were apart of the DCU panel which defeated UCC in Maradyke on Wednesday evening. DCU defeated UCC on a score-line of 2-19 to 1-12.

They were Dylan Purcell (Duffry Rovers) who played corner-back, Robbie Delaney from the Shelmaliers who play wing-back, Darragh Farrell from Bunclody who started midfield, Luke Murphy from the Harriers who started corner-forward, and Darragh Murphy from Glynn Barntown who was the other corner forward. Another Wexford native, Darby Purcell from Faythe Harriers, was named as no.19 on the panel. It meant that Wexford natives made up one third of the starting fifteen on the day.

In the backroom team, Wexford were also represented with Eoghan McAulliffe from Rathgarogue Cushinstown doing the performance analysis with the team.

The DCU team with a strong Wexford contingent will play their Fresher A All-Ireland hurling final next week.

Meanwhile, it was more good news for two Wexford footballers involved with DCU, as they were crowned Fresher A All-Ireland Football champions on Wednesday evening.
