Three Wexford hurlers named in the GAA.ie Hurling Team of the Week

Wexford defeated neighbours Waterford in an almighty encounter in Walsh Park on Sunday…

The Model County defeated the Déise on a score-line of 2-23 to 1-23.

Three Wexford players were named on the GAA.ie’s Team of the Week after producing some stellar performances, helping Wexford to secure the win away from home.

Oylegate-Glenbrien’s Shane Reck has once again been named on the team and he has been placed wing-back. Midfielder Conor Hearne has been named midfield, while Fethard’s Cian Byrne has been named in the corner-forward position, after he picked up five points from play in a Man of the Match display for the Yellowbellies.

Meanwhile, Shane Reck has been selected as a potential ‘hurler of the week’. To vote, you need to head over to the Official GAA Instagram story and vote ‘yes’ for Shane!

The full team of the week can be seen below:

After an excellent win against Waterford last weekend, Wexford’s attention now quickly turns to hosting the Rebels, Cork, on Saturday.

Wexford’s win over Waterford means that they have secured Division 1A status for 2025.

A win over Cork in Chadwicks Wexford Park next Saturday (March 16th) may see us qualify for the League semi-finals, depending on the results and winning margins in other matches. Next Saturday’s other fixtures in our group are Waterford v Kilkenny, and Offaly v Clare.
