Watch: Irish musician Fieldsy releases excellent cover of Pecker Dunne’s ‘Wexford’ song

Fieldsy is one of Ireland’s top up-and-coming artists…

Today, Fieldsy released a new cover of Pecker Dunne’s song ‘Wexford’ on her YouTube channel, where she regularly uploads covers of various songs.

The song is about about discrimination and prejudice and some of the interactions between the Traveller and settled communities.

In the song ‘Wexford Town’, for example, Pecker Dunne recounts prejudice against his father because he had married a settled woman.

“Wexford is a town I like – but the town I like is scorned. A man must feel affection for the town he comes from. I know one day, that I’ll go back – when my travelling days are done – people will wonder, whatever happened to the Pecker Dunne,” the lyrics read.
