Three friends are organising darts fundraisers and will be doing their own fundraisers to help raise vital funds for charity…
The trio of Stephen Redmond, Conall McCrea, and John O’Hara have pulled together to create a few exciting nights of fundraisers within their communities.
The first event takes place this Saturday, June 1st. The first event will take place in Nolan’s of Annagh at 8pm. This will see professional darts player Simon Whitlock play locals in the area in a darts exhibition. All money raised on the night going directly to MDI.
“Our very good friend John O’Hara is running this event and MDI (Muscular Dystrophy Ireland) is a charity he holds very close to his heart as family members have and currently are affected by it. He does a massive amount of charity work for them but also for other in need areas. John’s wife, Stephanie O’Hara, has put a lot of work into it too and was the driving force behind getting Whitlock. She has been all around town selling tickets, visiting all shops for spot prizes and collecting sponsorship for the night,” Stephen told Wexford Weekly.
Both Conall McCrea and Stephen Redmond will be partaking in two fundraising events the following week, on June 8th.
“The first one is that we are taking on a Half Marathon on the morning of the 8th of June at 11am. We decided to do this as an additional fundraiser, and to date, we have raised more than €630 separately with a goal of €1,000. We hope to close in on before the 8th. This is something we decided on to literally go the extra mile,” Stephen said about the purpose and goals of the marathon.
Both Stephen and Conall will run an exciting second fundraiser that same evening.
It will see two-time World darts champion, Gary Anderson, coming to McCrea’s of Carnew to take on 23 local Wexford and Wicklow players in another darts exhibition. This again is a fundraiser for MDI where all monies raised will go directly to them.
Both darts events still have general admission. Tickets are available for €10.00 and can be purchased from McCrea’s Bar in Carnew, directly from Stephen Redmond, or directly from John O’Hara on Facebook.
