Two Wexford natives going for Gold in Youth European Boxing Championships

A young North Wexford girl is bidding for a Gold medal in the Youth European Boxing Championships today…

Kayleigh Byrne, who has already secured a bronze medal at least, will be fighting today for a Gold medal.

She defeated a local favourite in the previous round in Bosnia

According to her coaches, she will be up against it but it should be a good fight with a gold medal on the line:

“Yep, boxing a very good Romanian champion who stopped her opponent in the quarter final.”

Her fight will be streamed live on YouTube at about 5:15pm.

Another young boxer, Kalib Walshe, will also be bidding for a gold medal at the same championships.

50kg Kalib Walsh has assured himself a bronze medal at least a following his European Junior Championship quarter final split decision win over Scotland’s Aaron Sarwar.

Best of luck!
