Two Wexford men on successful Ireland and UK Arrows darts team

Two Wexford men represented their county and country with distinction recently…

Billy O’Brien, a Guinness world record holder and a Hall of Famer from Ballycogley in Wexford, was selected as the team captain for the Ireland and UK Arrows darts team.

Last month, they had a most successful visit to Turkey. They played in 4 events and won all four which included the doubles event on the Saturday and then the Teams event on the Sunday defeating Turkey by 10 games to 5 and then defeating the Turkey champions by 11-4 on the Monday.

On Tuesday, they were up against a strong Wales outfit, which included former World Champion, Wayne Warren, on their team.

But the Ireland and UK team were too strong, defeating them 11-4 in the process.

The two Wexford representatives on the Ireland and UK team were Billy O’Brien and John Murphy.

Speaking to Wexford Weekly, Billy O’Brien said that this win was up there with the best of them:

“I have had many honours such as Hall of Fame in Ireland and America, but this was very special.”
