McDonald’s Wexford celebrates its milestone 15th birthday

McDonald’s Wexford has celebrated its milestone 15th birthday…

The opening of the Wexford restaurant in July 2009 remains the busiest store opening in McDonald’s history in Ireland.

Opening with 90 members of staff, the restaurant now employees over 130 local people, with full-time and part-time positions ranging from crew member to managerial posts.

The restaurant is proud to have many long serving crew members who have been working at the restaurant since the time of its opening and include Nadia Jean, Business Manager, Lorraine Dowdall, Pauline Doyle and Veronika Megelaityte.

The restaurant is also proud to have many accolades such as being the top McDonald’s restaurant in Ireland for raising the most amount for the Ronald McDonald House Charities for Christmas fundraising campaigns.

The restaurant is home to two globally awarded managers, Manuel Jean, Operations Manager, and long-serving manager Nadia Jean. The husband-and-wife duo were both recipients of the prestigious Global Ray Kroc Award, which recognises the top 1% of all McDonald’s restaurant managers worldwide.

During the past 15 years the restaurant has had a number of major upgrades, including several re-images, the development of its dual-lane drive-thru as well as introducing digital kiosks, table service and McDelivery.

Speaking to Wexford Weekly, McDonald’s Wexford Franchisee John Byrne commented:

“We are delighted to be celebrating our 15th milestone birthday at Wexford. We have continually invested in upgrading and improving the restaurant, introducing new technology and innovations through McDonald’s programmes such as ‘Convenience of the Future’ – aimed at enhancing our customer journey and crew experience.

“Serving excellent, high-quality food made from locally sourced produce is a continued focus at Wexford, thanks to longstanding relationships with brilliant supply chain partners such as Kerry Group, Moy Park and Dawn Meats.

“A constant throughout our 15 years at the Wexford restaurant has been our loyal customer base, made up of local stalwarts, who have visited the restaurant often several times a week and have very much become part of ‘the McFamily’ here.”

The Wexford team’s commitment to serving the local community and the wider area has remained an “overarching focus” for the restaurant since 2009 according to John Byrne.

“We take great pride in the longstanding relationships we have forged and nurtured with local schools, community groups and sports clubs,” he added. “We are proud to support and encourage them across the years, celebrating their achievements and all that they do to impact so positively on the lives of children and adults in the local area.”

“We are also incredibly proud of our continued support for Ronald McDonald House Charities Ireland in Crumlin,” Mr Byrne said.

Paying tribute to the staff at the restaurant, John said: “I wish to extend my sincere appreciation to every member of our brilliant team at Wexford. They are such a superb, enthusiastic team who always strive to deliver the best experience possible for our customers every day. Our success can be credited to them.”
