The Wexford Senior Hurling Championship is coming to its latter stages…
Following the conclusion of all group games in the new Wexford Senior hurling championship format, the draw for the preliminary quarter-final stages took place on Sunday, September 1st 2024.
The draw has created some interesting matches, which are pencilled in to take place from Friday 20th September to Sunday 22nd September 2024.
Wexford SHC Preliminary quarter-finals:
Ferns vs Oylegate Glenbrien
Glynn Barntown vs Faythe Harriers
Oulart-The Ballagh vs Rapparees
Crossabeg vs Cloughbawn
The two top teams from each group, St Annes and Naomh Eanna in group A, along with the Shelmaliers and St Martins have been placed directly into the quarter-finals.
It means that it will be four weeks until the two top teams in each group will play their quarter-final clash.
With the Rapparees and Crossabeg not winning any game in their group stages, it has also created the possibility that they could win the whole championship – despite not winning any group game. Although unlikely, the Wexford Senior hurling championship games are always close and it’s not impossible.
