It’s safe to say that the Fleadh left its mark on the people of Wexford and those who came to Wexford to visit in 2024…
The public enjoyed daily music and the 2024 Fleadh was described as one of the greatest ever that will go down in history.
Another aspect of the Fleadh that the public loved was the “Fleadh Harp” which was a feature on Wexford’s quays.
It has now been revealed that the Fleadh harp will become a permanent feature on Wexford’s Quay following the 2025 Fleadh in Wexford.
Wexford County Councillor, George Lawlor, proposed the idea and confirmed that following a discussion with Wexford County Council executives, that the harp will become a permanent structure in Wexford town.
“I’m delighted to say that following a proposal I brought to Wexford County Council Chief Executive and Chair of the Fleadh Executive Committee Eddie Taaffe the iconic harp, which became a focal point for the Fleadh Cheoil this year, will become a permanent feature on the Marina Arm on Wexford Quays following Fleadh 2025. It will stand as a lasting legacy to Wexford being a wonderful host town to this hugely successful event. The Harp, created by our own Buí Bolg will once again be sponsored by Wexford Credit Union Ltd for Fleadh 2025 and will then revert to being part of our public realm,” he said.
The Fleadh will also take place in Wexford for 2025, with the dates already confirmed.
