This sale came as a bit of a shock today…
Clayton Whites Hotel, based in the heart of Wexford town, has been sold.
It was announced today that Dalata, who are the biggest hotel operator in Ireland and owned Clayton Whites Hotel, have sold their hotel for €21 million.
They have sold their hotel to Neville Hotels. Neville Hotels is owned by local Wexford man Seamus Neville and the group’s portfolio includes the Ravenport Hotel in Wexford, Druids Glen in Wicklow and the Royal Marine in Dublin.
It is reported that the sale will be finalised in January of 2025.
Director at Neville Hotels Therese Kelly said this acquisition marks the sixth hotel for the group and “we feel this hotel will complement our new property in Curracloe, The Ravenport Resort, very well”.
“We are looking forward to investing in the property in the future to ensure its status as one of Wexford Town’s most popular hotels remains.”
Wexford County Councillor, George Lawlor, welcomed the change in ownership:
“Great to see Clayton Whites Hotel return to Wexford hands in the shape of Neville Hotels led by Seamus Neville,” he said.
It’s not the first big Wexford hotel sale from Dalata this year either.
Earlier this year, the Maldron Hotel in Wexford was sold to Neville Park Group, owned by Wexford businessman Colm Neville, for an undisclosed fee.
