Wexford General Election hopeful releases own song as part of his campaign

Well, this looks to be a first from a General Election hopeful in Wexford…

A General Election candidate, George Lawlor from Wexford town, has released his own song and placed it on social media as part of his political campaign to sway some additional votes.

Writing about the song, the Labour candidate said that: “If the Healy-Rea fella can have a song then so can I…”

Here, he was referencing a song released by Kerry TD – Michael Healy Rae – on November 20th, which replaces the lyrics to the tune of Billy Joel’s ‘We didn’t start the fire’.

George Lawlor’s video can be watched and listened to below, which has been watched over 10,000 times on his Facebook and Twitter profiles combined.

Whether or not the other Wexford candidates do similar and release their own song, remains to be seen.

Alongside Verona Murphy, James Browne and Johnny Mythen, Lawlor is one of the four favourites to take a seat in Dáil Eireann following the General Election in Wexford.
