A Gaelic football team in Laois have parted ways with their managerial set-up…
Anthony Rainbow, a Kildare football legend, will be taking charge of Laois Senior Football side, Arles-Kileen. The Kildare man will replace the Wexford managerial duo of former Wexford Senior football manager, Shane Roche, and also Aidan O’Brien.
Roche was appointed manager of the Wexford Senior footballers in 2020 after Paul Galvin’s mid-season departure. He stepped away in 2022, leading the way for new manager John Hegarty to take the reigns.
Laois Today noted that the Wexford pair took over the team mid-season following Donncha O’Reilly’s departure from the set-up.
Writing on Facebook, the Laois Senior football club welcomed their new appointment of the Kildare legend:
“Arles-Killeen GAA is excited to announce the appointment of Anthony Rainbow as the new Senior Football Manager for the 2025 season.
As a player, Anthony had a distinguished career with the Kildare senior football team, where he earned numerous accolades, including All-Ireland Under-21 and Leinster Senior Football titles. His leadership and commitment on the field made him a respected figure within Kildare football circles.
Anthony has a wealth of experience and proven record also as a manager, including winning Dublin senior and leinster championship with Ballybodan St Endas & winning Kildare senior championships with Sarsfields.
He also has intercounty experience, former manager of Carlow senior team for 2 years, and coach with Kildare senior team for 3 years,” a spokesperson for the Laois club said.
