Watch: Wexford’s Cyclone stars in new series of Gladiator

The Gladiators are back for a new season…

This time, however, Wexford people will have an added interest in the BBC show.

That’s because 23-year-old Enniscorthy native, Lystus Ebosele, known on the show as ‘Cyclone’, made her debut at the start of the new season.

During her introduction onto the show, she said:

“Cyclone is my name because I am a force of nature and I about to stir things up. One thing that people may not know about me is that I am the first Irish Gladiator – ever. I am qualified to be a Gladiator – because ‘look at me’ – that’s all the qualification you need right here. To me, being a Gladiator is all about being able to show women and girls alike that they can take up space, they can do it loud, they can do it proud, and that they can be confident and unapologetic when they do it. In the arena, people can expect the full package. I guarantee that I will put every fibre of my being into every single event, so those contenders have the hardest time possible in that arena,” she said.

The Ebosele name may ring some bells here in Wexford and across Ireland. She is a sister of Republic of Ireland international and Enniscorthy native, Festy Ebosele.
