No fewer than six Wexford players have been named on the GAA.ie Team of the Week…
Whereas previously the GAA.ie Team of the Week’s spanned across all four divisions, this week they have opted to split it into two separate teams.
A Team of the Week was formed for the Division 1 and 2 teams, while the Division 3 and Division 4 teams were in a separate Team of the Week.
After earning promotion to Division 3 with their win over Wicklow last weekend, six players were named on the GAA.ie Team of the Week.
They include goalkeeper Darragh Brooks, full back Gavan Sheehan, along with Eoin Porter and Glen Malone all taking up defensive positions.
Meanwhile, both Paraic Hughes and Kevin O’Grady picked up attacking positions.
Even though awards like this lack importance, it’s still always nice to receive some national recognition for a performance on the field of play.
In a wide-ranging interview recently, Wexford manager John Hegarty also believed that picking up awards like this instils confidence within the players – and that they come to the next training with a new added lease of life.
Wexford have two games remaining in the group stages of the Allianz Football League, however, their attention will quickly turn to the Allianz League final, where silverware will be up for grabs in Croke Park on Saturday 29th March.
