How are Wexford doing in the League?
Wexford currently sit on last place on the Allianz Hurling League table and they have been relegated. They won just one match out of their five games to date, defeating Clare in Ennis. Two teams will be relegated. With Limerick currently on five points, it means that Wexford have now been relegated to Division 1B – as a win against Limerick will not be enough to put Wexford ahead of them on the Allianz League table. Despite that, Wexford will be hoping for a strong performance in the last game of the Allianz Hurling League, with the Leinster Senior Hurling Championship just around the corner, taking place on Saturday April 19th, at home to Antrim.

Impact of relegation:
Relegation from the top-tier of the Allianz Hurling League has multiple negative impacts. The first impact is attendance figures at Division 1B games. Attendance figures will drop, and in turn, Wexford will be impacted financially. In the second-tier, television coverage will also be limited; Wexford may not have any games at all broadcast live on television, while highlights coverage on Allianz League Sunday will also drop. This, again, will impact Wexford’s finances for the next year, while it will also effect viewability of Wexford players – hurting the promotion of hurling in Wexford.
Another consequence of being relegated is the fact that the Wexford Senior hurling team will not be playing against the top teams, which could impact their performance when it comes to the Leinster Senior hurling championship in the Summer. Overall, Wexford’s relegation is not good from a Wexford GAA County Board perspective, a fan’s perspective, and a player’s perspective.
