One of Wexford’s professional boxers is ready to go…
Professional Wexford boxer, Dean Gonzalez Furlong, who is residing in Spain, received word last month that he is due to headline a bout in Alicante, Spain.
This pro boxing bout, under the bright lights, will take place this weekend March 22nd. The title of the show is “XI Trofeo Trojan FIT” and the event is being promoted by Spaniard, Arturo Agulló.
Wexford’s Gonzalez-Furlong will be fighting Dmitri Blinov, who is also at the start of his career and holds a professional boxing record of 2-5-0.
Meanwhile, 22-year old Gonzalez Furlong will be hoping to go 4-0 with a win over Blinov this weekend at the Institucion Ferial Alicantina, Elche.

Aged just 22, it’s quite impressive to be headlining a professional boxing bout at this stage of his life and career.

Gonzalez-Furlong was highly impressive in his last fight, where he quickly dismantled his opponent Sebastian Wojtan on the ‘War in Waterford’ card held in December of 2024. In quick fashion, he lived up to his nickname ‘Speedy’, getting his hand raised after a knock-out victory in the first round of the fight.
Meanwhile, two other professional Wexford boxers are due to fight next month. Both David ‘Bomber’ Kennedy and Dean Walsh will be fighting on the same card, which will be held in the National Stadium at April 12th.
