Wexford man signs his first professional rugby contract

We’ve never been short of sporting talent here in Wexford…

There are boxing, hurling, Gaelic football, and soccer stars across the county. Along with that, there are many Wexford rugby stars doing the business at both a local and national level too.

One of those people is Wexford native, Charlie Tector. The Rathnure man has become a mainstay in the Senior Leinster rugby team, having worked his way up from development teams through his involvement with Kilkenny College to then being named on the Ireland u20 rugby team, where he became a Grand-Slam hero with Ireland.

On Thursday, Leinster Rugby announced that Wexford man Charlie Tector has signed a contract with the rugby province. It’s Tector’s first-ever professional rugby contract.

This season, the 22-year old Wexford man has scored four tries in just eight appearances for Leinster, which is a serious achievement in itself.

There’s no doubt that the young Wexford man has a bright future ahead for both the Boys in Blue and the Boys in Green.
