Picturesque Duncannon Village is delighted to announce the return of its very popular Duncannon Festival, with a full one-day celebration set for Saturday 26th July…
The festival’s outline programme was officially launched by Ceann Comhairle and local TD, Verona Murphy at a community event in the village on Monday, 19th May.
The full festival programme will be available at www.DuncannonVillage.ie as more events and activities are confirmed.
Festival chairperson Clare Power unveiled an initial programme that invites the public to explore Duncannon’s treasures, including its stunning golden-sand beach, its historic military fort, and scenic shoreline. The day will culminate in a spectacular grand finale, featuring an open-air performance on the village green by the ever-popular Controversial All Stars, followed by an offshore display of dazzling fireworks by Rocket Pyrotechnics.
“With the incredible support we’ve received from the local community, we’re thrilled to bring back our beloved festival,” said Clare. “And this is just the beginning – we plan to grow it even more in the coming years,” she told Wexford Weekly.
The 2025 Duncannon Festival promises a feast for both the mind and the senses.
For curious minds, the SEA School – a key festival partner – will host engaging, hands-on marine discovery activities for children and parents alike. Seal Rescue Ireland will also be present, offering educational information on marine life conservation and the RNLI will be on hand to promote safety at sea. These efforts are part of Duncannon’s campaign to regain its Blue Flag status, absent for the past 17 years.
For hungry stomachs, festival goers can enjoy delicious food and drinks from some of Duncannon’s favourite local spots, including Roche’s Bar, the Strand Bar, Wild Rose Café, The Shop at Shoreline, Luca’s Off The Hook Fish & Chip Shop, and Oya Pizza. In addition, Duncannon Fort will host a vibrant marketplace featuring local artisan food, beverages, crafts, and other regional products.
