New face joins Wexford County Council

After more than five months, the Wexford County Council seat has been filled…

Enniscorthy native Cathal Byrne was elected as a Senator at the most recent election and he currently sits in Seanad Éireann.

Byrne was previously a member of Wexford County Council, which opened up a vacancy. He was previously first elected to Wexford County Council in 2019 and re-elected in 2024, a reflection of his solid work and delivery for the local Wexford community.

After five months, Fine Gael have now confirmed that Patricia Byrne was the sole nominee at their recent convention.

Patricia Byrne is 32 years old and from Ballyhogue. She has played an active role Cathal Byrne’s local and national election campaigns.
