A picnic against Apartheid will be taking place in Wexford this month….
The ‘Picnic Against Apartheid’ fundraiser – hosted by the Wexford branch of Amnesty International – will take place on the 13th of July at Redmond Park in Wexford.
The picnic is a free-family friendly event. Just like last year, the picnic will feature both guest speakers and musicians playing music during the day.
“The aim is to highlight the apartheid system that Palestinians have been forced to endure for 76 years. Their torment has only been exasperated by Israel’s genocide in Gaza,” the organisers said, speaking to Wexford Weekly.
“The failure of the Irish government, the European Union, the United Nations, and international community to hold Israel to account for its genocide against the Palestinians, mirrors the international communities failure to stop Israel’s apartheid system. Their failure to hold Israel to account for this war crime, is the source of Israel’s belief that international law doesn’t apply to it. We wish to remind Israel that their multiple war crimes committed over 76 years will never be forgotten,” they said.
