The Wexford County Council have issued a warning to the public…
The Wexford County Council issued a warning statement via their social media channels to the public on Tuesday afternoon.
There are currently tarmac works ongoing in Wexford. The warning relates to ‘leftover’ and ‘free tarmacadam’ being offered to the public.
It is believed that some people are acting as officials from the Wexford County Council, offering ‘tarmac’ to people in properties across the County. Once the person agrees and that poor standard of works are complete, the scammer demands that money is paid.
“Please be aware that people are being offered “free tarmacadam” while Wexford County Council are undertaking road works.”
“These scammers are saying that the tarmacadam is left over and therefore “free”. This is a scam,” they warned.
This is not a new scam and it has been ongoing for years. However, the Council have urged the public to share the message to protect the vulnerable.
